I come from Bratislava. I was born on February 14, so 14 is my favorite number. I started studying at the University of Economics there, but I also studied financial management and corporate finance. It helped me grow faster in this professional part of my life.
I love traveling because it opens your eyes. I visited the UK, USA (Florida, NY, California), South Africa, China and New Zealand. But my first trip was to Croatia. It was the first time I saw the sea. I was nine years old. I remember it clearly. It was incredible, only sea and nothing else. I really like water and nature. And sports. And I like to put them together, it's the best way to spend my free time. For example, cross-bike: take the bike and go riding in the mountains. A little while ago I made my first triathlon, it took me three months of preparation. It was a personal challenge to achieve that goal.
I worked as a CEO for six years in a successful company. One day, I prepared a volunteer project. We took orphans for a one day ride with Mercedes Benz. It was incredible. The kids told me it was a wish come true. That made me rethink about what I want to do. I needed to do something more meaningful. This is why I'm here. I need to do something more than… money. Our live is very fragile. We [Everybody] should think about it more. We are here for a very limited time.
There's a lot we can do and we can put together with businesses. That's the idea behind Smarthead. It took us three years to launch it. My intuition tells me that I'm doing what I really like. I enjoy people who are part of Smarthead because we share the same vision. We can help others spread their voices, share news, present activities, ideas and tips on sustainability. And educate, too! Because this educates people.
Before my team and I founded the Smarthead Company, we used to go to hospitals. We visited children with cancer. There was also this old lady we helped. And then we thought we should create a place where companies and organizations can share their sustainable activities to inspire each other. Maybe create some cooperation space between company and company, person and person, people and company. And thus, we create a synergy effect.
We wanted to work with leaders in sustainability topics. Big companies can have big impact on solving world problems. Now we want to show companies that people care about these subjects. People are looking for ethic values in their jobs so they can choose employers that offer meaningful ones. Employees take jobs in companies that work for positives changes, especially millennials. Young people are conscious of the planet’s problems. Young people ask for results. They’re interested in a better world.
I read a lot of bad news on ocean waste, contamination… We’re the part that destroys our planet, but we’re also the solution. I'm very optimistic, you know? About the future. That's what we want to show. And this development and sustainability global view is changing economy and things in general. For the better.
My parents taught me a lot of values, but they didn't teach me about recycling. I can see this. Nowadays, everything is waste, everything comes in plastic packages. It's a new need that my parents didn't have. Now we should care about the company from which we buy products. During this weekend, I went to the lake and I saw this bunch of plastic bottles. Coca-Cola bottles. Plastic. I see the environment, like... shit, we, people, do this. And I want to keep the lake healthy for our kids. I need to be part of the positive impact.
Being sustainable is a lifestyle. Smarthead is my personal expression. I know that what I can change by myself is very limited, but together we can make a bigger change. In ten years, I see each company sharing sustainability results trough Smarthead. This is my new triathlon, to create this connection together.
